War Against Child Abuse & Violence

Children Abuses & Violence includes any forms of violence against persons from 1 month infant to 18 years teenager which comprises of physical abuse, maltreatment, child marriage, child labor or child trafficking (i.e. physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse, education/social deprivation or neglect at the hands of their parents and other authority figures.

Sexual & physical abuses are one of the greatest crimes that are commonly committed against a child by either their parents, relatives, neighbors or strangers.

Mostly we took it upon ourselves to prosecute any established case of children abuse and violence irrespective of the offenders because every child deserve love, care, guidance, education. Security, protection, stability, emotional support, positive role models, friendly home and justice and we step in when any of these is abused or deprived.

The United Nations Convention on Rights of Child and Nigeria’s Child Rights Act give prominence to the protection of a child in the society as a result of this and specifically make case for the importance of the ‘primary care giver’ which is the child’s immediate family. But for many children they are captives in their own family as they are constantly sexual or physical abused by their parents. For such children, the scar the act eaves in their lives will not likely be erased anytime soon with psychological counseling,

At WCRLO, we provides free counseling support and legal services to abused children victims too. We do have one-to-one counseling which is aimed at dealing with the specific case of the child and also group counseling aimed at encouraging victims to see themselves as survivors and gather strength from the experiences of others.
