End Domestic & Gender-based Violence Against Women & Girls
Violence against women and girls known as Gender-based violence is one of the world’s most prevalent human rights violations taking place every day in every corner of the globe. It has serious short- and long-term physical, economic and psychological consequences on women and girls, preventing their full and equal participation in society. The magnitude of its impact, both in the lives of individuals and families and society as a whole is immeasurable.
The cases of domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, issue of neglect and abandonment, exploitation abuse of Women constitutes about 80 per cent of the violations in Africa.
What we do is engaging in a lot of aggressive sensitization on human rights issues, enlightenment programs, awareness creations through seminars, workshops and face-to-face interaction with people at community levels because the organization has since discovered that most people do not know that they have rights and that when these rights are being trampled upon, they do not know where to go to seek for remedy and redress.
We at WCRLO are highly committed in providing free legal aids & Counseling to female victims of violence & Child abuses through:
- Legal representations in the court.
- Sending letter of invitation to alleged abusers
- Petition writing
- Accompanying of victims to the police station
- Bailing clients
In the last 6 years WCRLO has provided free legal aid to over 85 women, children and young girls.
